As we move into the spring season, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about a couple of new wrinkles for the Lakeside Union School District 2006-2007 school year.
Because of the new classrooms at Suburu School, we would like to add a grade level to Suburu School (7315 Harris Road). If you recall, Suburu School was designed to be a K through fifth grade configuration on the original plan. We are pleased to announce that fifth grade will be moved to Suburu School next year (2006-2007). Therefore, the current fourth grade class at Suburu will move up to fifth grade and remain at Suburu for an additional year.
There will be one fifth grade class at Lakeside School (14535 Old River Road) and we will be creating a waiting list for those students who live in the Suburu attendance area who would like to attend that particular class.
In anticipation of the tremendous growth the district will be facing in the near future, we will be establishing two half-day kindergarten classes at Suburu School for the 2006-2007 school year. This will be a pilot program and we will be looking for 40 students to take part. Experienced kindergarten teachers will teach these two classes.
We are excited to offer this opportunity for parents, and if you would like to participate, please inform the office personnel at Suburu School when registering your kindergarten student. The class lists for this program will be developed on a first-come, first-served basis, so please sign up as early as possible.
Lastly, our regularly scheduled board meeting on April 11 has been moved to April 4 due to spring break starting on April 10. As always, please call me if you have any questions in regards to these changes.
