The Kern Reading Association's 31st Annual Young Author's Fair will be held Saturday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Standard Middle School Gym at 1200 N. Chester and Ferguson. More than 30,000 books created by local Kern County students will be on display. The event is free and all students with books on display who visit the young authors' fair will receive an author's ribbon. Books are not judged. Participating schools are responsible for setting up and taking down their displays within the timelines listed on the advance registration form. All books must have a title page with author name, school, district, teacher and school phone number. Professional children's authors will be on hand to speak and sign books. In addition, author Myron Uhlberg will be visiting schools on May 8. The author sessions are free and books will be available for sale. School buses are welcome with chaperones. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Rebecca Langston-George at  397-8560  or e-mail her at: the4george@cs.com
