Calling all Southwest book lovers, history buffs and political junkies!

Obscene in the Extreme: The Burning and Banning of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath - a new book by Rick Wartzman - recounts the social & political climate that surrounded the controversial ban of what is today one of America's most loved books. This true story is riddled with characters that are as interesting as they are real and gives amazing insight into our very own history, as well as what was happening socially and politically across the country in 1939.

I HAVE A FREE COPY OF THIS BOOK TO GIVE TO ONE OF YOU!!!!

I am looking for someone interested in reading the book and interviewing the author Rick Wartzman when he comes to town. Rick will be leading two discussions on his new book - the first, this Saturday 10/11 at Russo's at 1 p.m. and the second will be Friday, Oct. 17 at 7p.m. at the Southwest Branch of the Kern County Library.

Read the book, attend one of these events, meet and interview Wartzman and your article will be featured in the next issue of The Southwest Voice

Please email me at Nerlendson@swvoice.com if you are interested in picking up a free copy of the book and meeting Rick Wartzman during one of his book discussions.
