Christmas in September???

It's only September and I've already seen stores putting out Christmas decorations, Christmas cards and even toys. Not that I have anything against Christmas, I love the Yule season, however I think of it as being something that happens in December.
I realize they put summer clothes on sale in June and by July they are getting in their winter clothes, but that's clothes. If you want summer clothes now days, you have to start shopping in February. Who's ready for sleeveless blouses when it's forty degrees and foggy. You'd have to have a screw loose to try on sweaters and winter coats in August, but that's what the merchandisers expect us to do. Somehow, they have gotten their seasons all mixed up.
I can remember when Thanksgiving ushered in the Christmas season. They didn't put anything on the shelves until at least after Halloween. That still gave us over two months to pick out new lights, fancy decorations for our trees, get our cards addressed and mailed and shop for Christmas presents. Now we have four months to do our Christmas shopping. That’s almost as bad as the amount of time our politicians bombard us with advertisements when they run for office. I suppose the stores feel the longer these things are on the shelf, the more they will sell, but we only have so much money to spend whether we do it over a month’s time or four month’s time.
Don't think anyone wants to worry about Christmas this early, but they push it at us and shove it down our throats until Christmas doesn't seem like Christmas. I realize stores have to make money, but in my mind they are cutting their own throats. With the way they propel merchandise so early, by the time Christmas gets here, we're out of the mood.
Slow down guys, give us a chance to get the kids back in school, enjoy the peace and quiet with them gone most of the day, make costumes for Halloween, and gather our families together for Thanksgiving. Remember, Christmas is DECEMBER 25TH, not SEPTEMBER 25th.

Amen to the "Christmas in September" post. Shoppers need to ban together and boycott buying anything related to Christmas at least until after Halloween. Let's send a message to these store owners that we're tired of them commercializing Christmas.
