THEATRIXX is presenting two acting workshopsfor NOR Recreation.

If you think you may have been bitten this summer, by the acting bug, here is one way to scratch that itch. The Theatrixx workshops are an introduction to the basic techniques, skills and process of acting.

Based on the Stanislavski “method acting” system, Director Ron Bastone, will guide participants through the processes, exercises and theatre games that build the foundation for successful performances and sharpen the tools of the actor.

The workshop focuses on expanding the imagination, self expression, focusing concentration, using the body to communicate and approaching a role through character and scene study. All participants will be assigned scenes from contemporary plays to work on with one or two scene partners.

The eight week introductory course will meet weekly for two hours over the two month period of time and successful participants will be able to continue in an advanced group past the eight weeks, as workshops will be ongoing. The rehearsed scenes will eventually be presented for invited audiences.   Director Bastone, says “it’s an opportunity to explore those hidden facets of an individual’s personality, examine what motivates human behavior and objectives and most of all have fun doing so, by discovering another you.”

The workshops meet at two locations. The Adult workshop, for  those 18 years of age and older meets at NOR’s Greenacres Community Center and the teen workshop for 13 to 17 year olds will meet at Riverview Community Center. WORKSHOPS BEGIN Thursday Sept. 4th (Teens)  Saturday Sept. 6th (Adults)

Registration is underway. For information and enrollment call 392-2020.

This is great news. My daughter is going to be a freshman in high school, and she found out that because of her experience in Fruitvale Junior High's drama program, they are placing her directly into Theater 2. I am excited about this! Thanks for posting it!

I'm always so pleased when I hear about teenagers who have developed a passion for something they love doing so early in life. Acting is very therapeutic, a great self esteem enhancer and confidence builder. I am looking forward to working with teens like that in my workshops. - Ron Bastone, Theatrixx
