Greetings, Southwest friends!
I hope you've been enjoying the summer. Teachers, there's still plenty of vacation left, so keep enjoying while you can! I look forward to visiting schools in the fall and sharing our upcoming writing contest (school age children can win an iPod, among other prizes!). Please contact me if you'd like me to pay a visit to your school for any reason!
But before all that -- we have a deadline coming up! There is a new deadline for Southwest Voice submissions. Now when you receive the latest Southwest Voice, the deadline for the following issue will be on Monday nights! So, with that said, the deadline to get something published in the August 6 issue is:
Monday, July 28th at 9:00 p.m.!
Need some ideas on stuff we might need?
If you know someone who may have a good story, please forward this email because they may not be a Southwest Voice Web site user. This online newsletter is my way of alerting our online readership to upcoming stories, photo contests and giveaways. If you know someone who would benefit from receiving this newsletter, please forward it, and then they can follow these short instructions (if you are already receiving this email from me, you don't need to do anything!):
To start receiving this newsletter, you must be a user of our Web site, SWVoice.com. Receiving this newsletter is not the same process as receiving the printed magazine in the mail. Please:
You will begin receiving the newsletter by the next cycle, which is in two weeks (unless something great comes up for me to share--like free Jazz Festival tickets or Elmo tickets, which has happened!).
Next, have you seen the latest issue?
Southwest Voice, July 23rd issue!
Our feature story is about the Shuford sisters -- Skeet shooting siblings! Those are clay pigeons on the cover, and these girls can shatter about 95 out of 100 of them in the air--and sometimes more!
Also in this issue, I'd like to introduce our new fitness columnist, Vernie Ogden. Vernie has 16 years of training and experience and has agreed to write a regular column to share his knowledge with us! He owns Personal Edge Fitness, which has two locations: One opening soon downtown!
It's also full of great ads. Ads, you may wonder?? YES! To keep our magazine free, we have a bunch of great advertisers, who are as much a part of this magazine as are our subscribers and contributors! Please enjoy their offers and use their businesses -- without them, we wouldn't have this great outlet to share our Voice!
Have you used one of our advertisers? If so, please send me an email detailing your experience, and you may win a Southwest Voice t-shirt!
That's all for now! Enjoy the last few days of July, relax, and always be thankful for this great city and this great country in which we live.
Be well,
Dana
