Happy Independence Day, Southwest friends!

How lucky we are to be living in a free country, and there's nothing like the 4th of July celebrations to shoot off some fireworks (safely, of course) and wish America a happy birthday!

(The Fire Dept. Fireworks Task Force has set up a hotline. Call 868-6070 if you see any illegal fireworks, and help keep our town safe).

Before I get to the fun current issue, let me notify you of The Southwest Voice's early deadline for the next issue.  Instead of Tuesday (our regular deadline), I must get your contributions for our July 9th issue by:

Monday, June 30th! at 9 p.m.

We need:

• Educator of the Month nominees

This issue is filled with so many great patriotic submissions from our readers that everyone needs a copy!
