Jillian Hill, of southwest Bakersfield was honored at the Bizparentz Organization Child Actor Recognition Event or (C.A.R.E. Awards) on Sunday, May 13,2008. This is the second year Jillian has been honored at the event which awards about 125 young actors annually based on their work in the business as well as academics, civic activities and parent participation. The event was held at the Universal Studios in the Globe Theatre.   The guest speaker for the day was Fred Savage from "The Wonder Years".  Who, by the way is grown, married and has one baby and a very pregnant wife in attendance also.

Jillian was selected based on her academic excellence and her participation in activities to help the community. Last year, along with acting, Jillian assisted with the Bakersfield Police Department’s Special Olympics Torch Run and Santa for a Senior Project where she bought gifts for two senior citizens with her own money. She also participated in several events through her school including a plastic bag recycling project, box tops for education where the money is donated to a sister school, she contributed to toys for tots, the homeless shelter and women and children’s centers. Jillian has a wonderful heart.

You may have had the opportunity to see Jillian this past year on a national Saturn commercial. She also played the roll of Susan in Miracle on 34th Street at the Spotlight Theatre just before Christmas. She has also been heard in a couple of radio commercials.

To give you an insight into Jillian, we had a party of seven attending the event, including Jillian, 2 grandmothers, a special grandpa, an aunt, an uncle and myself. It was a great day. We were all so very proud of Jillian and the other kids as well as they were all deserving of valid recognition.
With all of this being considered, I want to share with you something Jillian said to me that night when we pulled into the driveway about 9:30 pm.

I asked her if she felt like she was the "luckiest girl in the world?" (After such an incredible day.)  Her reply shocked me...

She said:  "Well, maybe not the luckiest...."

I was shocked and asked her why she would say that.

She said:  "Well, some little girl may have had her daddy come home from the war today and I think she would probably be the luckiest girl in the world."

I hope you can all understand why it is so important to me that Jillian be recognized for her achievements!  I also hope you understand why I wanted to share this with all of you.
