This month I was fortunate to attend the Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference. The guest speaker was TV journalist Soledad O’Brien (she was amazing!). It was a great experience for me to see so many women empowered about their futures!

The best thing for me was to get out and meet our readers! I ran into Dean and Rachel (from KGFM radio), and former TV anchor Galen Young (whose great-grandfather is Brigham Young). Galen gave a presentation on the future of journalism (how all forms of media are crossing into each other’s territory), meaning that newsprint is venturing into video, and television news stations are creating printed articles. We really are in the 21st century!

If you have the opportunity, I urge you to attend the conference next year!
