I love that the Southwest Voice features local events only and uses community writers. It is fun to read things written by people you know.
On May 8th Old River School will be having a unique Open House(Our Wrangler Round-up). I think this would make a great story.

Mmmmmmm.....Dryer's Ice Cream on a Sunday afternoon. Sounds yummy! I look forward to receiving my copy of The Southwest Voice. I think an article written by a diffrent local hero each month would be interesting. They are given an award once a year. Why not let each hero tell his/her story throughout the year?

I hope whether or not you win tickets that everyone attends the JA Ice Cream Social on Sunday. This event benefits the Junior Achievement program in Kern County. JA is a wonderful program that provides real-life business skills to students. Plus the weather should be perfect... high 80's. (... and no, I don't work for JA, I'm actually a grantmaker to them)
For story ideas, I suggest maybe something like the "Dining Divas" (from your 'sister' mag - Bakersfield Life) where you could have a group review SW restaurants. I would totally volunteer to help coordinate this for you.
... until next time...

I think that The SW Voice is a great idea to help stay connected with our community. I would like to see more helpful articles in areas of fitness and health. I would even help!

I really like the hometown feel of the Southwest Voice. It's all about our community and it highlights people and activities that would go unseen. I love it. Keep up the good wotk! I would suggest doing a story on the man who walks all over the south end of town. I don't know his name but I'm sure lots of people know who I'm speaking about. He walks from white ln to Taft hwy. everyday I see him walking, he wears shorts, sometimes no shirt, always has a backpack and he had a dark tan.

i love that the southwest voice incorparates the community into everything they do! Our communities are not as close knit as they used to be and i think the southwest voice brings a little bit of that old style mentality back into the community! Thankyou for that.

When you no longer live in the Southwest you kind of lose touch with reality. I moved to the Northeast and couldn't do without my Southwest. I enjoy catching up on upcoming events, local stories (especially about our B-town kids), and the fact that there is actually life existing in this massively growing, smog infested, overcrowded, happy valley area they call Bakersfield. Oh! I'd really like it if the wine lady could provide a list of the top wineries to visit or possibly have an intimate wedding at. Thanks for keeping me grounded.
