I'm here to tell you a story about a little known group here in B-town. We are known as the Bakersfield Salseros and we formed our group about 8 years ago. The group is made up of Salsa dancers, instructors and musicians. Originally formed by Tj Paca, Larry Paca and Ed Rivera in 2000. We wanted to build a community of Salsa music lovers who could enjoy and explore the joys of dancing and self expression through music. We now proudly have aproximately 150 loyal members. By members we mean people who are not tied to a fee or membership clause. Our only montra is "Live to Dance, Dance to Live!" and anyone can call themselves a Bakersfield Salsero if they love to dance Salsa.

I feel like a proud Mother when I speak about the growth and excitement that comes from our little baby. It brings a tear to my eye when I see shy people who claim to have two left feet, blossom and grow into self assured and more confident individuals through salsa.  It takes courage and determination to overcome our insecurities. Learning to dance socially is a wonderful avenue to finding your social nitch. I have made so many close and careing friends through this venue. Some have found love, others have found freedom, and self confidence.

Salsa dancing is full of passion, sensuality and life. You don't have to know what the words are saying to feel the deep rythems beating into your chest calling you to the floor. It is not just for the young or athletic. Salsa dancing is for every age and ability to enjoy. It is aerobic and gets your circulation going, you work up a sweat and feel alive.

If you would like more information you can visit our web site at www.bakersfieldsalseros.org  Or join us on Thrusday nights at Doubletree Hotels Club Odyssay on Thrusday nightsfrom 8:00pm. until 10:30 pm. $5.00 cover. Or take lessons on Sundays starting at 3:00 pm. with Tj, or Ed.

Trust me this is something you don't want to miss out on. Live a little and dance.
