    My daughter and I would like to nominate Lindsay Haney of Buena Vista Elementary School. My daughter Shaylan had Miss Haney for first grade last year and was lucky to have her again this year for second grade. Shaylan has excelled in all of her subjects, especially reading, in which she currently reads at a fourth-grade level. Miss Haney is always entering the students’ work in local contests — so many other teachers don’t take the time. This year, Shaylan was lucky enough to win first place for second-graders in the art portion of the Kern Family “What my Family Means to Me” contest — thanks, of course, to Miss Haney. Shaylan loves school and looks forward to seeing her teacher every day. Shaylan says, “Miss Haney is a very smart and intelligent person, she is very nice and has taught me a lot.”
