Pastor Robert Proctor received his doctor of ministries degree from Azusa Pacific University on Dec. 15. Pastor Proctor has pastored at the Southwest Christian Center for the past 22 years.

During the past three years Pastor Proctor attended Azusa Pacific University in the pursuit of his doctoral degree in ministry. He began the program in 2003 and, according to the committee, graduated in record time.

It has been my privilege to know Pastor Proctor since he was 16 years of age and to have served with him for the past nine years.  As colleagues in the ministry I have always held him in high regard and chose to serve with him when I semi-retired from pastoral work in 1998.

Proctor has served this community as pastor of Southwest Christian Center. He also serves as a Chaplain for the Bakersfield Fire Department and as a staff chaplain for San Joaquin Community Hospital.

His doctoral thesis is titled “Community Service Chaplaincy Doing God’s Work in God’s World.”

The committee was very complimentary of his work and expressed the fact that he had provided a very informative work for their consideration.

I know that all who know him will want to join with me in saying, “Congratulations Dr. Bob Proctor!”
