Q. I have framed 12 pieces of art made by my children. They are colorful and measure approximately 12 by 16 inches, some horizontally and some vertically. How can I plan the grouping for my wall?
A. Make a paper template of each picture and mark where the hanger of each frame should go. Allow for some gravity lowering on each piece. The grouping of frames can be laid out on your floor to check on color combinations and spacing. Tape the paper templates on the wall corresponding to the layout on the floor.
You now have an arrangement that fits the wall and has adequate space between the pictures.
Use good hangers — not just nails — and place your hangers on the paper template, then remove the paper around the hanger. Hang your pictures, making sure there are bumpers on the bottoms to protect the frame and wall.
Your arrangement should make you happy and show off wonderful color.
