BAKERSFIELD, CALF. (December 12, 2007) -It’s all about gaining independence from foreign oil sources and breathing cleaner air – especially for children. Local propane dealer Delta Liquid Energy (DLE) is leading the way by stepping out-of-the-box and holding its own event to showcase new California Air Resources Board (CARB) certified, commercial vehicles that are now available for purchase.  On Wednesday, January 16, 2008, a public “Ride and Drive” event will take place from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Delta Liquid Energy located at 3400 Buck Owens Blvd., Bakersfield, California.

On hand will be representatives from the San Joaquin Valley Clean Cities Coalition, propane experts and local dignitaries.  Participants will be able to learn about tax credits, pick up literature and test drive (with proper license) a school bus, a heavy duty service delivery truck and a medium duty truck, all of which run on propane and are in full-time service today.  All other attendees may ride along and are encouraged to take photographs.

Although fleets have other alternative fuel options, it is widely known that propane motor fuel is the most readily available, comparable if not lower in cost and can be the most clean burning.  Efforts to get propane vehicles on the road over the years have been hampered by CARB’s strict requirements.  With these strict requirements comes an increased development cost which creates market conditions that do not always support the profitable sale of the propane systems for market- driven prices.  Although this is the case, grant funding has made the vehicles displayed at this event available for purchase at a reasonable price.  Other states and countries have been successfully using propane as a motor fuel since the 1930’s.  In Europe it is called, “Auto Gas.”

For more information, or to RSVP for the event, please call Ted Olsen, Event Coordinator (805) 391-3810, Mike Loguidice, Regional Sales Manager at (661) 978-2478 or Linda Urata, San Joaquine Valley Clean Cities Coalition (661)978-2478.
