This year, Christ’s Church of the Valley is introducing a new holiday tradition to the city of Bakersfield. In cooperation with Bakersfield Rescue Mission, Christmas Wonder will be presented Dec. 14 to 16, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on the campus of Christ’s Church of the Valley. Each evening will be filled with the sights and sounds of the season.

 

This event, designed with the entire family in mind, is comprised of four different “lands”. Christmas Central is a medieval village where local performing groups entertain, snow magically falls from the sky every 30 minutes and you can decorate and eat your very own gingerbread cookie. In the Christmas Theatre, experience a live comic retelling of “The Gifts of the Magi”, an instrumental ensemble playing your favorite Christmas songs and a musical adventure of the biblical “Wise Men” and how they ended up at the manger. The Forest of Trees, is a shimmering spectacle of over 30,000 lights all dancing to spectacular music of the season. And finally, Christ’s Church of the Valley will host the Christmas Art Show and Sale, where families will find the works of local artists, have the opportunity to see art being created live, or sit down and decorate a “Christmas Wonder” tree ornament courtesy of Color Me Mine for a minimal additional cost.

 

Christ’s Church of the Valley is partnering with Bakersfield Rescue Mission by asking everyone to bring a donation of unopened men’s toiletries, socks, or undergarments. In return, you will receive a coupon for a steaming cup of hot chocolate good the evening that you attend. In addition 15 percent of the proceeds from the Christmas Art Show and Sale will be donated to Bakersfield Rescue Mission.
