Hello, My girlfriend got a job at Buck Owens Crystal Palace about 6 months ago.  Since then, I have been banned from the building, and name called and pushed around by management and security.  Why?  Am I a violent person?  Am I rude or dangerous?  No, No and No.  I am a good Christian, never been arrested, never even been pulled over and never done drugs in my 24 years on this planet.  I was banned from the establishment and asked to leave when enjoying the restaurant due to a few factors.  I have dyed neon greenish yellow hair, and I have a few piercing on my face.  When my girlfriend's shift was almost over, I joined a few other people who were there to pick up other workers.  We talked for awhile and left.  The next day a manager told my girlfriend that I was to wait outside in the parking lot and not to wait inside.  As I sat in the parking lot, I watched as the regular group of people went inside to wait for others to get off work.  My girlfriend said that they were allowed and I was not.  While I was in the Crystal Palace I did not talk to my girlfriend as she worked, Instead i was on the other side of the lobby just looking at the Buck Owen's memorabilia.  Tonight was Buck Owne's birthday Bash, I waited outside once again, waited to get an autograph from my favorite country singer Dwight Yoakam with a group of other's waiting their turn.  I was then approched by 2 security guards who told me to leave the area (they used several swear words in the process).  I left and will never return.  My mom has worked for Buck Owen's/KUZZ for 20 years and I have still been very mistreated. I for one feel that if Buck Owen himself were here today he would be very ashamed of how his establishment is now ran. I strongly belive that having his name on the neon sign is a disgrace to him and everything he stood for after knowning him for all those years.  "Only God Can Judge Me"

Fair enough. I bet they have a dress code that prohibits such a display of individualism.

that too is false, as i sit alone in the parkinglot waiting for her to get off work, i see dozens of people that have dyed hair, early 20's, piercings etc... the fact is they are paying customers. its 100% discrimination.

Hey I'm not defending them but what you're saying is if you dont pay then you dont get to come in. Listen you're talking with a guy who has been in plenty of altercations with people around here just becuase they didnt like the way me and my friends looked, it sucks. My best buddy had cancer and looked like death warmed over, he had no hair and always wore a bandana to cover up the fact he was bald and half of his neck was gonna from radical surgery to save his life. We caught all kinds of hell everywhere we went because he was sick. A lot of times people assumed he had aids and we were a little more than best friends it was jacked up. We were told by a large party of rednecks at Pizzaville USA (before the gangbangers took over the place) on Oak to get the hell out of there and never come back and almost 20 years later I think I've set foot in that hellhole a total of 3 times and everytime my stomach churned at the thought of what was done to us without so much as a peep from the stinking management, I think they actually approved of discrimination against a man dying with cancer. The bottom line is I refuse to give pizzaville my money (ever). Maybe you should go back over there to the palace and video tape them treating you like a 2nd class citizen because if I had a video camera all those years ago me and my buddy might have had some recourse.

sorry to hear that. yeah getting pulled over is horrible. getting treated like you're a criminal. also the stuff that goes on inside the crystal palace, the stuff the managers do to their employees is insane. but nobody will do anything because the man in charge is worse. oh well. i just wrote this topic to show that there are nice guys out there who may look like a piece of junk

While I don't frequent the Crystal Palace, or necessarily agree with what they have done to you, I am going to assume (perhaps incorrectly) they have posted a sign that says they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. This allows them to exclude you from the premises. What I'd like to ask you is, did you think about how people would respond to your appearance before you did it? Not many do and then get upset when they are treated differently. It seems most people who choose to change their appearance to "non-conforming" standards have a "I don't care" attitude but it would seem in this case you do care. Regardless of whether you and I think it is right or wrong is completely irrelevant. This society, especially Bakersfield, WILL JUDGE YOU by your appearance and even your vocabulary. There is nothing you can do about it, so my advice to you is to think twice before the next hair coloring or outlandish piercing and ask yourself, what image am I projecting and am I ok with the consequences? It would appear by your letter you are not.

How about the French? the crystal palace will charge a 17% gratuity to even ONE French person that dines there. the crystal palace is only suposed to charge the 17% if it's a group to 8 or more people. i happen to know this has happened many times, to just one french person. that place is crooked.  they will do it every time.  it's not the employees, its the managers.  two managers...  i wont meantion Mathy or Michelle's name.  ;-)
