National stepfamily seminar returns to Bakersfield

Nationally known author and speaker Ron Deal will be in Bakersfield this month to once again present the “Building a Successful Stepfamily” seminar.

This is a practical seminar for stepfamily adults (both parents and adult children), pre-remarriage couples, single parents, counselors and church leaders. Ron conducted this seminar here two and a half years ago and set an attendance record for his seminars at that time.

Ron is president and founder of Successful Stepfamilies, an organization that empowers remarried couples and stepfamilies and equips churches for stepfamily ministry.

He is author of the book, "The Smart Stepfamily: Seven Steps to a Healthy Family" and creator/presenter of the "Building A Successful Stepfamily" seminar.

Currently Ron is serving as the stepfamily educational consultant to Focus on the Family; is a member of the Stepfamily Expert Council for the National Stepfamily Resource Center; and is an adjunct faculty member of Talbot School of Theology's doctoral program in effective family ministry. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed professional counselor, a certified family life educator, and a member of the Stepfamily Association of America's advisory council and institute faculty. Ron and his wife, Nan, are also members of the national advisory board for The Association of Marriage and Family Ministries.

According to his Web site, Ron's national radio appearances to address the needs of stepfamilies include "Focus on the Family" (and numerous FOTF broadcasts); "FamilyLife Today;" "HomeWord" with Dr. Jim Burns; "America's Family Coaches" with Dr. Gary & Barbara Rosberg; "Live the Life" with AACC president Dr. Tim Clinton; "Josh McDowell radio;" and many others. National TV appearances include "Reality Talks" with Dr. Kevin Leman; "A New Harvest;" "At Home Live;" and "100 Huntley Street" and "Marriage Uncensored" in Canada. Ron has written feature family and ministry articles addressing a variety of family matters for a number of publications and online magazines.

RiverLakes Community Church will again be hosting the seminar which will begin on Friday evening, March 30 and conclude on Saturday afternoon, March 31. The cost is $75 per couple and $40 per single which includes workbook, lunch and refreshments. Child care will be provided at no additional cost by prearrangement only.
