Gorgeous rock formations created from volcanic activity, river deposits, earthquakes and erosion make Red Rock Canyon a scenic day trip.
Whether you go to take a nature walk, have a picnic or wheel around on your OHV, now is the time to visit because the daily temperatures are perfect.
When my husband, Doug, bought his first Nikon camera, we sojourned to this strangely enchanting landscape just so that he could take photos.
The alternating bands of reds, grays, whites and pinks found in the rocky sides of canyons make it nearly impossible to take a bad picture. Joshua trees pepper the surroundings and add to the eerie, alien-like beauty that Red Rock Canyon is famous for.
Approximately 80 miles from Bakersfield, plan to spend about an hour and a half in your vehicle getting there. Bathrooms and picnic tables are available for those of you who plan to spend only a few hours there before heading back to B-town.
