Rockfish is a local rock’n’roll Christian band comprised of Brent Hicks, Bob Marshall, Jeff Sweaney and Mike Sarad.
It has been said that Rockfish has the style of classic rock, with blues and just straight ahead rock and roll.
Rockfish first formed in 1988. They played for a few years, had a few member changes and then took an extended break. Playing with one another over the years, Rockfish was re-formed in late 2003.
Rockfish is committed to spreading God’s word via rock’n’roll music and Christian lyrics. All four of the band members have backgrounds in music, and even played in secular bands together and separate in the past. As the band was formed, they began praying that God would use them in a manner that would fit with their musical preference and bring glory to His name, as well as minister to those who might have a chance to hear it.
Two years later, in January of 2005, they were blessed with their first CD. Rockfish had their first CD release party on Jan. 21, 2005, at RiverLakes Community Church.
The venues they have played include Taft Prison, Station 316, Angel City Coffee House (Los Angeles), benefits, birthday parties and many others.
Rockfish’s next big gig is the Great Kern County Fair. You know you are going to go to the fair, so make your plans to attend on Friday, Sept. 29, and visit “The Garage” stage for a great free Christian rock’n’roll concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
