It’s time again to give to a worthy charity and get fabulous decorating ideas simultaneously.
The Bakersfield Showcase House of Design will take place Sept. 1 through 10 and will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., including Labor Day. This is the seventh year for this event, which benefits Club Zion Youth Ministries.
The 2006 Showcase House of Design is a Tuscan-inspired home built by Bailey Custom Homes in the upscale Talladega community in Northwest Bakersfield. You’ll tour the house and gardens and get lots of new ideas for your own home. You’ll also enjoy shopping at the many boutiques and dining on delicious Italian cuisine provided by Frugatti’s.
The Bakersfield Showcase House of Design is produced as an annual benefit, combining the efforts of countless volunteers, contractors and designers who transform the interior and grounds of an estate selected by the BSHD. With your attendance, the event benefits local youth through Club Zion Youth Ministries, the selected charity for this event. Club Zion is a great organization with a real heart that reaches out to our local young people. The key focus is high school- and college-aged youth.
Club Zion was formed in 2000 as a ministry that would help young people discover that there is a God-given purpose for their lives. The group teaches, mentors and trains young people to accomplish these goals. To do this, they have developed unique programs that encompass many areas of support and spiritual outreach.
Club Zion believes that every child deserves proper spiritual guidance and support to enable them to avoid societal problems and to lead responsible lives. Due to the increase of dysfunctional families, many of today’s youth are unable to understand normal family needs, regardless of which side of town they live in. The results are crime, violence, drugs, teen pregnancy, alcohol and a below-standard education.
Young people come to Club Zion to receive attention, attend Bible studies, seek spiritual guidance and prayer, participate in various programs, receive special training and work with peers to help them become productive and understand the decisions and choices they are making.
Club Zion works to unleash the positive energy of young people by providing special programs and training and loving mentors who will empower them to become positive members of the community.
