It’s back to school time again!
The smartest school supply you can get your child this month is a library card.
Studies show that children who read and are read to in the home perform better in school and are more likely to continue using the library and its resources as a source of lifetime learning.
Who doesn’t want to give their child the best opportunities to excel in life? The best part is that a library card is free and any parent can afford it. All you need to do is fill out an application for your child (and for yourself while you are at it!), present current photo ID, and presto –– instant borrowing privileges!
The Southwest branch library offers books, magazines, tapes, CDs (both music and books) and videos for you and your family. Did you know that you can use the library even when the library is closed? Our Web site: www.kerncountylibrary.org offers a wealth of homework resources. We have magazines and journals available online, the library catalog for placing books on hold and other electronic resources.
There are also a variety of programs at the library that will stimulate an interest in reading and learning in your child.
During September, Preschool Storytime will be starting back up. Just come in with your little ones on Wednesday mornings at
We will also be offering a new program called Grandma’s Attic on the second Saturday of the month at
