The Fresno area was the location of the 2006 Central California ASA Girls' Fast Pitch Championship Tournament the weekend of June 17 and 18.

Bakersfield was well represented by a group of more than 100 very talented and athletic girls who were on a total of eight teams that competed at this year’s tournament.

In the 12 and under division there were three teams: the Bakersfield Babes, Bakersfield Impact and Shockwave. All three teams proved themselves worthy of recognition. Shockwave went undefeated and took first place. They will be representing Central California at this year’s ASA Nationals in Indiana. The Babes and Impact both earned the right to represent the area at the ASA Western Nationals in Sunnyvale, Calif.

There were also three teams from Bakersfield competing in the 14 and under division. The Bakersfield Babes and Bakersfield Xplosion both received a place at the Western Nationals to be held in Oregon. The BV Connexion, a team comprised of both Bakersfield and Visalia girls, took second place in their division and earned the right to represent the area at the ASA Nationals in Tennessee.

The Bakersfield Babes 16s and 18s were the only teams representing Bakersfield in their age divisions. Both teams did a great job, with the 16s securing a place at the Western Nationals in New Mexico and the 18s earning the right to represent Central California at the ASA Nationals in Kentucky.

Congratulations to all the girls and their coaches. Great job!
