Leah has 3 older brothers and one younger sister so she is always on the move. She maintains 3,0 or higher in school and has been involved in school activities since grade school. Fourth grade she started running joined the basketball and football team. She is in 7th and attends Thompson Jr High and she not only joined the tall flag team she is still running. She is on their track team being coached by Mr. Easter. She runs the 1500 relay (4 times around that track in this heat.), 800 relay and finishes 3rd or 5th and just last week she ran finished 3rd in the 1500 relay and her first team relay and Thompson Jr High finished first. After her first meet as a jr high student she comes to me and tells me that running in grade school was easier then Jr high. I had to laugh.. She is always setting goals for herself and works really hard at anything she does. Her great sportsmanship, determination to reach her goals only to set even higher goals is amazing. She is really outgoing and her personality and attitude along with her love for school and sports is truly an asset. We are blessed and so proud of her and her achievements and accomplishments.

Thank you,

Educator of the Month: Mr. Elison

I want to nominate Mr. Elison, my sixth-grade teacher at Castle Elementary, for Educator of the Month.
Mr. Elison is a great teacher! His devotion and dedication to all of his students is really awesome. Most of us in Mr. Elison's sixth-grade class have excelled in areas like math, science and writing, which are areas that most of us kids had a hard time in. He takes the time to listen to us and our voices matter to him. He is really good at teaching us without us knowing. If any of us need help or don't understand something he makes time and he will find other ways to help us learn something we are having problems with. I believe Mr. Elison was born to teach. It's hard to motivate us kids. I hear teachers and parents talk about how hard it is all the time. Not for Mr. Elison, motivating us comes easy for him. He has a lot of patience and a positive attitude that just adds to the many things that make him a great teacher. Mr. Elison has us write an essay once a week on topics that are most of the time things we all want to write about. I used to hate those essays and now I don't mind them at all. He takes time to tell us how well we are doing and how proud he is of our accomplishments. He also tells our parents. Math and science were never a subject I liked but this year Mr. Elison has encouraged us to participate in the Science fair and he also assigned it as a project we had to do for class. My science project won first place this year at our school and I will be participating in the county science fair at Robobank Arena. The pressure to do well in school is overwhelming and so is the thought of going on to junior high. Mr. Elison has turned some of this stress and pressure into something positive. This has been a really hard letter to write because there are so many things I could share with you. I hope I was able to get you to see why Mr. Elison should be honored and voted for teacher of the year or month. He really deserves it. I have learned so much from him and will miss him next year as I move on to seventh grade. So please help us show him what a great teacher he is by honoring him.
Thank you,
