The winner of the Third Annual Brains of Bakersfield contest, held Saturday, April 19 at CSUB's Icardo Center, is Gray Matter Envy, its 2nd consecutive win!

All proceeds from the event benefit the Jamison Children's Center, selected by CSUB's Soccer teams. The soccer teams, led by coaches Simon Tobin (originator of the event) and Nicole VanDyke, put on a stellar event.

Grey Matter Envy won the 2nd Annual Brains of Bakersfield competition Friday, April 13, in Cal State University's Icardo Center, in a tight race to the end. They beat the 49th Parallel by only 3 points.

Twenty-six teams competed this year for the cherished trophy, with many teams saying the questions were even harder this year than last. Categories included sports, history, music, geography, and pop culture.

Proceeds from the event go to CSUB Soccer scholarships and to the Diabetes Youth Foundation –– an organization that runs a summer camp for kids with type-1 diabetes.

Look for details of next year's competition in Spring 2008!
