Welcome to The Southwest Voice, a online community and newspaper for Southwest Bakersfield residents!
My name is Olivia and I am the Managing Editor of The Southwest Voice.
Lauren Helper is our star Southwest Voice editor. Please talk to her about anything, whether it's a story idea, web site questions or community contribution.

A little more about me:
I have been in the journalism business for nearly 15 years. I knew this was the business I wanted to go into after being influenced by my high school college prep English teacher and my high school journalism teacher.
Bakersfield holds a special place in my heart: I love working in the community where I was born and raised.
I am married, and we have three handsome sons.
We also have three beautiful German Shepherds.
I like to be involved in the community and my family is my priority.
I love the Southwest Voice because it tells the story from the perspective of our residents, our "citizen journalists."
They make sure we remain connected to what's important to Southwest Bakerfield.
