There was an article published in Time Magazine on March 13 titled "Inside the Pitchfork Rebellion." A portion of the story is analogous to the current situation with the federal courthouse. Because of the economic growth in China for the past decade, more land is needed for development. Local farmers joined together to protest government officials' actions to seize land and lease it to foreign investors. Farmers were left with little compensation, and after months of fruitless petitioning at varoius levels of government, local residents decided to stage a protest near their seized land. I see a strong arm in the GSA's decision to build a federal courthouse in a primarily residential area, disregarding local residents' concerns. I see no difference in what has happened here from China, which is across the Pacific Ocean. I thought I lived in the United States of America?
