Panama-Buena Vista Union School District (PBVUSD) is a growing district in southwest Bakersfield. The district extends 15 miles south to Copus Road, north to Stockdale Highway, east to Hughes Lane and west to Interstate 5.  Presently, the district is about 20 percent built out. PBVUSD has 16 elementary schools and four junior high schools.  Stonecreek, the district's fifth junior high, will open next school year (2006-2007).  Our present student population is 15,400, and with 31,000 homes to be built in our district in the next few years, there is tremendous potential for growth. Our district has produced 13 California Distinguished Schools. They are Buena Vista; Castle; Hart; Laurelglen; Loudon; Lum; McAuliffe; Reagan; Sandrini; Seibert; Stockdale; and Tevis Junior High School. Stockdale is also a National Blue Ribbon School. Berkshire and Panama Elementary each have the opportunity to be named Distinguished Schools this year if their Distinguished School...
