Brian Foley, a 16-year-old Ridgeview High School junior, beat some of the best skeet shooters in the west to win the California State Skeet shooting championship in Los Angeles recently. Foley, a local skeet shooting prodigy, who earlier this year was named to the Junior Second Team All-American squad, hit 399 out of 400 targets over three days to best the field, allowing him to walk away with the high overall championship. Foley shot a perfect 100 straight in the 12 gauge, and then did the same in the 20 gauge and the 28 gauge before dropping the lone target while shooting a 99 out of 100 in the 410 bore. “It was work,” Foley said. “I was shooting well and felt good all day. The target that got away just dropped with the wind and I couldn’t find it. It just dove to the ground.
