Julia Berchtold of Garces Memorial High School was named Bakersfield’s Junior Miss, Class of 2009. Julia won $4,100 in cash scholarships and will travel to Rohnert Park, California, to participate in the California Junior Miss State Finals this August. During the State Finals, Julia will compete with representatives from the local programs for the opportunity to become California's Junior Miss 2009 and win more than $35,000 in cash scholarships. The young woman chosen as California’s Junior Miss will go to compete in the America’s Junior Miss Scholarship Program.
