Stockdale High School was the big winner at the 15th annual Kern County Regional Science Bowl held on the CSUB campus on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Stockdale Blue winning team included Siri Grandhe, David Kimber, Justin Koh, Guy Rodgers, and Joy Wang. The team now advances to the National Science Bowl sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, which will be held in Washington, D.C., April 26 through 30. Stockdale’s coach was Stephan Kiouses. The Stockdale Red team came in second, and the East Bakersfield High School Blue team finished third. Other competitors at this year’s Science Bowl were Foothill, Farmersville, Golden Valley, Mojave, North, Taft Union, Tehachapi, Highland, Liberty and West high schools. Thomas Meyer, computer science professor and Science Bowl coordinator, said 27 teams competed in a fast-paced, question-answer format that covered such subjects as physics, biology, chemistry, math, earth science, computer science, and astronomy.
