"AVID" stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.
AVID has many expectations and goals, such as understanding the importance of going to college, being a better student, and organizational skills. AVID means being able to be all that you can be and believing in yourself that you can be a driven student with a great future ahead.
AVID has been offered at O.J. Actis for six years, and we are hoping it will continue for years to come.
In addition to learning the advantages of attending college, students also do projects like Power Point, where we research about a college we want to go to, college awareness activities like college weeks, and fun days on Friday at the end of each month, binder checks, and tutorials that are some of our daily classwork.
The last Wednesday of the month we make a video showing what we've learned that month.
