Parents and students who are looking for some assistance with math should watch “Do the Math,” which will be broadcasted on channels 15 and 20 in the Bakersfield area on Tuesdays and  Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5: 30 p.m. beginning Oct. 3. Do the Math provides quality math assistance for students in grades four through high school through a broadcast televised tutoring show and a phone bank of math tutors accessed by calling  636-HELP (available now). The program is sponsored by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools and other major sponsors like the Panama Buena Vista School District, Bakersfield City School District and corporate sponsors such as Castle & Cooke, Chevron and San Joaquin Bank.  Students who cannot access the broadcast via cable can go to: www.kern.org and click on the “Do the Math” icon. This very convenient way of getting free math help has been available for four years. Do the Math operates during the school year...
