A big thanks to the Bakersfield Southwest All-Star team, 12-year-old division, for perfectly representing themselves, their families, our community, and Pony League by winning the Desert Region Championships and advancing to the Zone Championship in Los Angeles. While putting on an outstanding show of team sportsmanship, these young professionals came together to mightily defeat all opposition during what can easily be considered record-breaking and scorching temperatures. Furthermore, these All-Stars displayed self-motivation, drive, heart, and perseverance in order to achieve amazing performances that included astounding home runs by Jordan Portillo, Chris Borba, Steven Adams, Nick South, Ryan Stapp, Eric Williams, Jared Solf, and James Hockstad; a Grand Slam homerun by Chris Borba, the only one of the entire tournament; and, base stealing, by all players, on par with anything you could witness in Pro Ball.Moreover, we need to recognize support for these boy’s...
