I work with almost 300 seniors here at Glenwood Gardens who range in age from 70s to late 90s. This being wedding season, I asked a number of them the key to a long, successful marriage. They shared some great secrets we all should be in on. Migs was married for 45 years to her husband; a friendly, likable guy who everyone loved. Maddie said her husband Jim was her “very best friend” and they were married 58 years. Helen said her husband was raised very similarly to how she was raised. They attended church together and prayed together. If there was a disagreement they took it to the Lord. Virginia said it was shared interests and mutual respect that kept her and her husband together. They were married for 57 years. Aileen said what kept her marriage going was that they stayed “crazy in love.” Carolyn shared two wonderful marriages with two wonderful men who both passed away. She says both were very kind. They both loved to travel and enjoyed their children....
