A co-worker found Maitai, a tiny kitten then, running down M Street with both eyes sealed shut from sickness. She took him home and nursed him back to health, and offered him to me because she knew I was looking for a cat. We decided Maitai (named after the resort where we stayed on our honeymoon in Tahiti) needed a friend, so we went to the SPCA and Aiden won us over. There was a little tension at first but now the two are like brothers. I'd like to encourage all of our users to take advantage of the new video tool to share video with your neighbors. Nothing (obviously) is too inconsequential to be the subject of a video. Maybe you can even capture some snow this weekend! If you need help with the video tool, e-mail me at: lhelper@swvoice.com or call 716-8630.
Hello all!
I'm the proud editor of the new Southwest Voice newspaper and online community. For the past two years I've served as editor of The Northwest, and have made many friends in the community along the way. I thought spearheading the launch of The Southwest Voice would be a good challenge for me. A Bakersfield native, I went to Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Garces High School. I attended the University of Southern California (Go Trojans!) and graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 2002. I love living in Bakersfield. I spend most of my time with my new husband, J.P., my mom Lynn, our two kittens, Aiden and Maitai, and my two best friends, Katie and Natalie. My favorite restaurants are Woolgrower's and Uricchio's. During work hours, you can often see me grabbing a coffee at Dagny's. I also love attending events at the Crystal Palace and Fox Theater. My favorite movies are "The Princess Bride," "Sunset Boulevard," and "Pulp Fiction." My favorite books are "To the Lighthouse," "The Awakening" and "A Confederacy of Dunces." I'm also a huge fan of "Project Runway" and "Grey's Anatomy." I hope everyone likes the newly revamped Southwest Voice Web site. Don't be left out –– start your own blog today! If you have any questions or concerns, or would just like to chat about The Voice in general, feel free to e-mail me or give me a call at 716-8630.
