If this years Senior High School All-star Game (Friday, June 15th @ 6:00pm) is not successful it may well the last time it is put on here in Kern County. This is a once in a life time event of YOUR KERN COUNTY SENIOR GIRLS.  Never again will they be able to play in a Senior High School All-Star Game!  We need everyone to get involved and to get behind this effort so it can become an annual event!  I no longer have children playing high school sports.  I just love the game. All profits will be used to award scholarships and insure next years game.  Please give us your help by getting involved and taking part.  It costs $30-$35 per player for Insurance, umpires, Commemorative T- shirts and etc.  Sponsor a player for only $40,  contact me today. I'll come by and pick it up!   If you can help out  Call   -  Joe  -  565-1808       ;

Another weekend is upon us. I have invited all our local politicians to the Senior High School All-Star Softball game. It should be a good chance to be seen by member of the community?  I will also invite all the city and county leaders to attend.  Still hopeful for some more sponsors will come on board soon. Need sponsors so we can give out scholarships.
I see where BASA is selecting it's All-star coaches and will be selecting the All-Star players next week, GBA should be selecting it's All-star players and coaches very soon,  good luck to all the players and coaches.

Another day has come and gone,  I don't think people understand how much work is involved it putting the All-star Softball Game on? Have raised about 1/2 of the money needed to put this on so far, guess I better check my bank account for the funds?  I can't understand why people won't support women's sports in this city? I remember a couple of years ago when the main news paper of Bakersfield ran the boy's baseball opening day ceremonies on front page of sports section and had two (2) pages in middle of it , in color, telling all about the boy's. The headline was "FUTURE PRO'S HAVE OPENING DAY", or something like that? They didn't even send anyone to the girls opening day, and there were 1000 people there for it? Is the girls sports as important as the boy's, just watch the local paper about all the ladies signing to play with colleges all around the county! Well, off my soap box for today.

Things are becoming settled. Field is rented, high schools have been snail mailed information on the upcoming game. Now waiting for responces from each high school coach.  I would like to see at lease one player from as many high schools as I can. Coaches, remember this is an All-Star game and the player will be playing beside Kern Counties best.  A very outstanding woman from the softball community has agreed to throw out the first pitch. Still looking for someone to sing the National Anthem and see if I can get that giant flag that the Fire Department has flying at the game? Still looking for sponsor, we are at the half way mark in having enough money to pay expenses. Sure hope it dosen't have to come out of my pocket? Funny thing happened (well not so funny) a local Doctor was asked to donate and he was willing "until" he found out it was a girls event? Guess good ol' Bakersfield is still behind the times.
